Why Summer Heat is Dangerous for Dogs and How to Keep Them Safe
As a dog parent, my entire daily routine revolves around keeping my pups safe, healthy, and comfortable. One of the biggest routine shifts in our household happens when the seasons change, especially when transitioning between extreme winter cold and summer heat. During the crisp, cold winter months, you’ll find us out for long walks during late morning or early afternoon when the sun offers a bit of warmth. Dogs can generally handle a brisk winter day quite well with their coat, but summer is an entirely different story. When summer hits, our schedule flips completely. I only take my dogs out for walks early in the morning before the day warms up, or late in the evening once the sun has set and the pavement cools off.
